Cold
milling is a technique which involves removal of the existing asphalt
surfacing of a roadways, runways, or other asphalt surface. Asphalt cold
milling machine is designed for the controlled removal of the surface of
the existing pavement to the desired depth. Asphalt milling machines can
be used to remove either part or all the existing pavement layers. The
asphalt so removed can be used in hot mix plants.
Mechanical Operations
Depending on the nature of the work, cold milling machines are
available in a variety of sizes. Cutting mandrel is an important
component of the asphalt cold milling machine which is designed to move
the milled materials to the center of the mandrel or drum where it drops
on to a conveyor. The milled materials are used for other purposes.
With front steering, rear steering, and all-track steering the
maneuverability of the asphalt cold milling machines can be increased.
The large cold milling depends on the more robust cutting tools. The
cutter drum which is an important tool of the asphalt cold milling
machine is equipped with easily replaceable tungsten carbide cutting
tool.
