Jib
crane is another important type of bridge construction machinery. Jib
cranes derives their name from the horizontal beam, or jib, upon which
the shuttle or hoist is mounted. With horizontal load-supporting boom
fastened to a rotating vertical column, jib crane is either attached to
a wall or extending from floor to ceiling.
A jib cranes consists of strut, pulley block and cables. The winch is
used to move the cable up or down.
The winch may be manipulated using a
variety of power sources, including fossil fuels, hydraulic or pneumatic
power, or electric chain jib cranes. Available in different capacities
jib crane is used for load handling. Based on loading capacities and
techniques used jib cranes are classified as :
- Wall Cantilever Type
- Wall Bracket Type
- Freestanding Type
- Mast Type
